What to prepare between the application and the interview
The shortlist call comes with two days' notice. Here is the preparation that fits in those two days and separates prepared candidates from confident ones.
Re-read your own application first
Interviewers ask about what is in front of them. Open the exact CV version you sent, and be ready to expand every bullet into a 60-second story: the situation, what you did, and the measurable result.
Build six stories, not thirty answers
Most behavioural questions map onto a small set of experiences:
- A project you led end to end
- A conflict or disagreement you resolved
- A failure and what changed afterwards
- A time you influenced without authority
- A decision made with incomplete data
- Your clearest quantified win
Research with a purpose
Spend 30 minutes on the company's product, its customers and its last public announcement. Turn what you learn into two questions you genuinely want answered — that exchange is often what interviewers remember.
Close the loop
Send a short thank-you note within 24 hours referencing one specific point from the conversation. It costs nothing and keeps you present while decisions are being made.
